STOCKTON, Calif. — The Stockton parents of a 2-year-old girl are behind bars in connection with her death.
According to Stockton Police Department, first responders were called to a home along the 300 block of West Oak Street for an unresponsive 2-year-old girl on Sept. 9. It was reported around 3:15 a.m.
The girl was taken to a hospital, but she ultimately died.
Police said she was malnourished, appeared weak and thin, and showed signs of neglect.
After an investigation, her parents were brought in and questioned.
Jessica Chavez, 39, and Gregorio Ornelas, 61, were arrested on suspicion of child abuse related charges and booked into the county jail.
