CHP said the teen was not wearing a seatbelt and was speeding in and out of traffic when he sideswiped another vehicle.

TRACY, Calif. — A Stockton teen died Wednesday after a crash on I-205 east of El Rancho Road in Tracy.

According to the California Highway Patrol, it happened around 6:30 p.m.

CHP said witnesses told them two vehicles were speeding and weaving in and out of traffic. The driver of one the of the vehicles – an Acura – was changing lanes when it sideswiped a Toyota going the speed limit.

The impact caused both vehicles to leave the road and flip down the embankment. The driver of the Acura, a 17-year-old from Stockton, wasn’t wearing a seatbelt and was ejected. He suffered fatal injuries.

The other vehicle speeding with the Acura left the scene, but witnesses called in information and investigators found the driver and vehicle. They were not identified but charges against them are pending.

It’s unknown if drugs or alcohol contributed to the cause.
