STOCKTON, Calif. — One man is dead, and another is injured after a shooting Sunday morning in Stockton.
Just after 9:30 a.m., officers responded to the 600 block of El Camino Avenue for a reported shooting, according to Stockton Police Department spokesman Officer David Scott.
Upon arrival, officers located two men who had been shot, Scott said. Medical response transported both victims, a 19-year-old man and a 70-year-old man, to the hospital. The 19-year-old man was later pronounced dead, Scott said, but the 70-year-old had non-life-threatening injuries.
A 36-year-old suspect was initially detained at the scene but was ultimately arrested on suspicion of homicide. He was identified as 36-year-old Miguelito Asuncion.
Homicide detectives are still investigating the incident. Police said there was an "unknown disturbance" involving all three people, however it's not clear what happened between the disturbance and the shooting.
