San Joaquin County deputies search for attempted murder suspect who allegedly shot his stepdad

San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a report of a shooting between family members on the 19000 block of North Jack Tone Road in Lockeford.

SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY, Calif. — Deputies are looking for a man Wednesday after a shooting Tuesday in San Joaquin County.

Just before 9 p.m., deputies with the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a shooting between family members on the 19000 block of North Jack Tone Road in Lockeford, according to an office social media post.

Upon arrival, deputies said they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound to his abdomen. He allegedly sustained the wound during a domestic incident with his 24-year-old stepson, Brendan Stiles Briggs, authorities said.

Briggs fled the scene and refused to meet with deputies, according to law enforcement. He was last seen wearing a red hoodie, black pants and carrying a red Adidas backpack.

It is possible Briggs fled on a black and white Huffy bicycle, deputies said. He is wanted on suspicion of attempted murder, several gun charges and a no-bail warrant out of Merced County in connection with carrying a loaded firearm.

Anyone with information regarding this investigation can contact the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office non-emergency line at 209-468-4400 and selecting option 1.
