22-year-old woman killed in suspected DUI crash. Stockton police arrest 1

Just before 1 a.m., a 22-year-old woman was driving her vehicle in the Lakeview District when a drunk driver broadsided her vehicle and killed her, police say.

STOCKTON, Calif. — A woman was killed early Sunday morning after a suspected drunk driving crash in Stockton.

Just before 1 a.m., a 22-year-old woman was driving her vehicle in the Lakeview District near Quail Lakes Drive and North Pershing Avenue when she was broadsided by another vehicle, according to the Stockton Police Department watch commander’s night report on Facebook.

The woman was transported to the hospital but later died from her injuries, police said.

Police identified Estrella Preciosa Pantoja, 24, as the suspect driver and alleged she was under the influence.

Pantoja was booked into San Joaquin County Jail just before 4:30 a.m. Sunday, and she faces charges including vehicle manslaughter with gross negligence and two felony counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, jail records show. 

She allegedly had a blood alcohol content higher than 0.08%, according to jail records.
