STOCKTON, Calif. — CHP - Stockton issued nearly 20 citations in under two hours to parents for "impeding traffic" a day after advising the school and parents about bad driving habits.

According to a Facebook post by CHP - Stockton, the citations were issued to drivers at Monroe Elementary School and Hamilton Junior High School after CHP received continued complaints about bad driving from parents. At the start of the week, two officers visited the schools to warn parents about their driving and that their habits may cause them to be cited in the future.

The next day, the officers returned to the schools to see "parents stopping in the middle of the roadway and letting their kids out of the cars."

"This is not safe, nor is it legal," CHP - Stockton wrote in their Facebook post.

According to CHP Stockton, a total of 19 citations were issued to parents for impeding traffic.

"Law enforcement takes child safety very seriously," explained CHP - Stockton. "If you refuse to follow the rules, you will be issued a citation."
