Delta college water polo player killed in Stockton crash

Officials said the 18-year-old was involved in a crash near Baker Street and Park Street.

STOCKTON, Calif. — A San Joaquin Delta College water polo player was killed in an accident over the weekend in Stockton.

The San Joaquin County Medical Examiner's Office identified the 18-year-old as Makaela Crespin, of Stockton.

Police said she died at a hospital after being involved in a two-car crash around 6:30 p.m. Sunday near Baker Street and Park Street. The other driver was also treated for injuries.

A spokesperson for Delta college confirmed she was a student at the college and played on the water polo team.

Her teammates memorialized her on Instagram, calling her a "bright light on the team" with an "infectious smile" and someone who "radiated so much positivity."

"She was an amazing teammate and showed her love and kindness to everyone she met. She was a great prankster, bracelet maker, and had the best pajama pant collection. She touched the lives of so many people and we are so glad that we at Delta got to spend so many hours and weekends with her," Delta_womens_polo_swim said on Instagram
