2 teens dead after crash on Eight Mile Road near Stockton

There were 10 teenagers in the car ranging from 13 to 17-years-old

STOCKTON, Calif. — Two teenagers are dead after a crash on Eight Mile Road near Stockton.

The crash happened around 3:45 p.m. when a 2006 Toyota Sienna was heading westbound on the roadway near King Island Road. CHP says the driver lost control of the car and veered to the left off the roadway.

Officials say the car overturned and landed on its roof in the water at White Slough.

10 people were in the car, ranging from 13 to 17 years old. CHP says several of the passengers were not wearing a seatbelt when the crash happened, and that the driver was identified as a 17-year-old girl who didn't have a driver's license.

Several of the passengers were taken to the hospital to be treated for minor to moderate injuries. Two of the teens passed away due to the crash.

Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in this crash.
