Giving Tuesday in Stockton| Here's how to donate to local organizations

A Stockton organization is offering an online platform for nonprofits to accept donations on Giving Tuesday.

STOCKTON, Calif. — Since 2012, the first Tuesday after Thanksgiving has been known as "Giving Tuesday," a day where people are encouraged to give back and spread the spirit of generosity.

Generosity will be in the air in San Joaquin County on Tuesday as local nonprofits prepare to take in donations to continue their work in the Stockton area.

The San Joaquin Community Foundation is offering a free online platform for nonprofits to accept donations for Giving Tuesday.

The website will allow people to read information about local nonprofits and donate to their favorite San Joaquin County area charities. So far, 64 local organizations are accepting donations through the online platform with more than 20 different causes available to support.

A 2021 economic impact report commissioned by the University of the Pacific found that with nearly 2,580 nonprofits active in San Joaquin County, one in every 20 jobs in the county are at nonprofit organizations.

Those looking to give back on Giving Tuesday can also help ABC10 take a Stand Against Hunger in Northern California.

ABC10 has partnered with seven local food banks, including the Emergency Food Bank of Stockton/ San Joaquin, to help them feed those in need this holiday season. The Stand Against Hunger Campaign runs through Dec. 17.
