A man is under arrest after crashing into a Stockton police officer’s patrol car that was at the scene of a separate car crash.
The man, later identified as John Vance, 24, was arrested after it became clear to the officer whose car he had struck that the man was under the influence.
The police officer had been investigating an accident that had happened just after 11 p.m. Saturday night, resulting in the death of a 57-year-old man.
While interviewing the driver that fatally struck the victim, Vance managed to collide with the patrol car while other officers blocked traffic at Thornton and Wagner Heights roads just after 2 a.m. Sunday.
No further injuries were reported at the time of Vance’s arrest, police said.
No arrests were reported as a result of the prior fatal car accident.
