SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY, Calif. — A 36-year-old Rangel Gumesindi Hernandez was found guilty of a 2020 killing and attempted robbery in Stockton, the San Joaquin County District Attorney's Office announced Tuesday.
The district attorney's office said Hernandez and two other men approached then-36-year-old Richard Saldana on Jan. 13, 2020 to rob him.
Hernandez reportedly shot Saldana when confronted near E. Seventh Street in Stockton—leaving the man with fatal gunshot wound.
Co-defendants Daniel Miranda-Lick and Alonzo Fabian Talavera pleaded guilty to attempted robbery charges. They were each sentenced to 16 months in prison.
Hernandez returns to court for sentencing May 1.
“I would like to congratulate Deputy District Attorney Alexander Henry and the Stockton Police Department for holding the defendant and co-defendants accountable for their vile actions,” said District Attorney Ron Freitas. “My thoughts are with the Saldana family during this very difficult time.”
