Man with knife shot by police in Stockton

The man was taken to a hospital, but it's not clear what condition he is in.

STOCKTON, Calif. — A man is in the hospital after being shot by police Sunday evening in Stockton.

The Stockton Police Department said officers responded to the 1600 block of East Bianchi Road for a reported disturbance involving a man with a knife around 8 p.m.

Police said arriving officers found the man armed with a knife, which was then followed by law enforcement opening fire. It's not clear what led up to the shooting.

The man was hit by gunfire and taken to a hospital, but it's not clear what condition he was in. 

Police said a woman was also found with a stab wound and taken to hospital. Her condition also wasn't known.

No officers were hurt during the incident.
