STOCKTON, Calif. — A woman died in a San Joaquin County crash just days before she was reported missing.
According to Stockton Police Department, officers took a missing persons report Friday morning for La'Shai Mata.
It would take days, but officers eventually learned Monday that Mata died after a crash in the area of Interstate 5 and Highway 4 on Nov. 27. She was identified by the county medical examiner who then told police.
It's not clear what led up to the crash. The California Highway Patrol is the investigating agency.
