Power restored to over 7,000 San Joaquin County PG&E customers after power outage due to weather

PG&E said Friday afternoon there were approximately 15 current outages and roughly 7,205 people in San Joaquin County are affected.

STOCKTON, Calif. — The power is back on in Stockton for over 5,000 Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) customers.

Approximately 5,076 PG&E customers were without power as of Friday at 2:30 p.m., according to PG&E’s outage map. The power was restored sometime after 3:15 p.m.

Around 4 p.m., only 19 customers were affected by outages in Stockton, Manteca and unincorporated San Joaquin County.

While the cause of the outage is still being investigated, PG&E said it is more than likely weather related.

"The cause of the outage is weather related, specifically wind, that caused the outage," PG&E said in a statement.

There were 15 outages in San Joaquin County, and roughly 7,186 customers were without power in the county at one point, according to the outage map.

PG&E originally estimated power to be restored around 7:45 p.m., PG&E said.

The Stockton Unified School District’s (SUSD) Department of Public Safety headquarters and dispatch center lost power Friday afternoon. Backup generators quickly powered on but some public functions were temporarily unavailable.

Power is back on at most school sites, whether through generators or naturally, according to the SUSD. Internet hotspots were available at schools that had lost power.
