Update 8:30 a.m.:
STOCKTON, Calif. -- Bomb specialists from Travis Air Force Base will return to the Stockton home where hundreds of military explosives at 9 a.m. Friday.
The explosives were found by police, who were investigating a death near Rockford Avenue and Richland Way, Thursday morning.
The specialists removed at least one explosive from the home near Hammer Lane and Rockford Avenue. The body of a 70-year-old man was also found inside, according to Stockton Police Spokesperson Joe Silva.
Silva told ABC10 bomb specialists could be inspecting the home throughout the weekend. Police have not specifically identified the type of explosives found nor have they said from where they came.
The Red Cross has set up an evacuation shelter at the Arnold Rue Community Center located on Loraine Avenue. According to Red Cross Spokesperson Frank Pasillas, 16 families are in the evacuation area, but only five people came to the center on Thursday and no one stayed overnight.
The center will remain open until the evacuation order is lifted, Pasillas said.
In the worst-case scenario, if the explosives go off, Pasillas told ABC10 they are prepared.
“We have planned for that. We have trailers ready and other places for evacuation centers and are ready to respond and help the families impacted,” he said.
Update 7:25 p.m.:

Specialists removed at least one explosive from the home of a 70-year-old man who was found dead inside, according to Stockton Police Officer Joe Silva. Silva said bomb specialists could be inspecting the home throughout the weekend.
Police evacuated about 20 homes after the explosives were found. Those homes will remain evacuated until the home is cleared, Silva said.

Police evacuated about 20 homes in Stockton after officers found a home with military explosives while investigating a death, officials confirmed.
Stockton Police officers were investigating a death near Rockford Avenue and Richland Way around 9:10 a.m on Thursday. The death appears to be due to natural causes, police said.
Officers evacuated the nearby homes after they discovered the explosives.
Stockton Police officials said the bomb squad is likely to be at the scene all night.
Red Cross opened an evacuation center for nearby residents at the Arnold Rue Community Center at 5758 Lorraine Ave.
