Two people who were serving probation are back in custody after sending Ripon police on a pursuit Friday night that ended up near Stockton.

The police chase began at about 9 p.m. after the white 1997 Acura was seen driving in an unsafe manner. The car was also reportedly loitering near a closed store on South Stockton Avenue, just south of 1st Street.

Officers tried pulling the car over at the intersection of 3rd Street and South Elm Avenue. But when an officer began walking up to the pulled over car, police said the suspects quickly sped away from the scene.

The suspects fled through neighborhoods with what police describe as "wanton disregard" for the safety of other drivers, before getting onto northbound Highway 99.

California Highway Patrol helped Ripon police with the highway pursuit, during which speeds went beyond 95 miles per hour.

The suspects drove past Mantexa and finally took the Arch Road Exit. At that point the driver, 47-year-old Gregory Duane Brazier Sr. of Forrest Hill, lost control of the car and drove into a ditch on Mariposa Road.

Brazier fled the crashed car on foot, chased by CHP and Ripon officers. Brazier was found hiding inside a home and taken into custody without incident, according to the police department.

Brazier's passenger, 22-year-old Elizabeth Annette Troncoso of Modesto, was also arrested. Both were found to be on probation. Officers located marijuana and narcotics paraphernalia in the suspect car.

Both have been booked into the San Joaquin County Jail on various charges.
