Den'Nicia Watkins was identified as the woman found dead Jan. 5 south of Tracy, according to her mother. The San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the case as a homicide.
The family has set up a Go Fund Me fundraiser to help pay for funeral expenses.

The San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a body was found on the side of a road Friday south of Tracy.
It is being investigated as a homicide until the autopsy is done, according to the sheriff's office. Deputies got reports of a body on the side of a road around 4 a.m. near Chrisman Road and Durham Ferry Road.
The sheriff's office said Chrisman Road was temporarily closed between Durham Ferry Road and West Linne Road as deputies investigated and has since reopened.
