STOCKTON, Calif. — Two San Joaquin County Sheriff's Office deputies were hurt Saturday night after being broadsided by a suspected drunk driver in east Stockton, officials said.
According to the Sheriff's Office, a Porsche SUV ran the stop sign at Main Street and Hinkley Avenue Saturday night, just before midnight.
The SUV allegedly broadsided the two deputies who were driving eastbound on Main Street at the time.
Both deputies were taken to the hospital. One of them suffered a broken collar bone, but has since been released and is back home resting with family, officials said.
"Our deputies are currently doing well," the Sheriff's Office said in a post on X. "But we ask that you please take this as a reminder to the severities and repercussions of drinking and driving."
An unknown number of people inside the Porsche were also taken to the hospital. Investigators believe the driver of the Porsche was drunk when the crash happened.
The California Highway Patrol is investigating.
