Stockton set for its annual lighted boat parade with emotional touch

STOCKTON, Calif. -- On his 43-foot yacht called the "Beverly Ann", Bob Cain is in decoration mode, getting ready to set sail for Saturday night's lighted boat parade in Downtown Stockton.

"There's the camaraderie of being with your friends and decorating the boats. And, being in the parade and challenging the elements sometimes," said Cain.

Chairman Roger Hahn says each boat's $25 entry fee will go to the Children's Home of Stockton. To watch? Priceless.

"It just really brings the community together. And, to see the children's alone, for me, that's just everything right there," Hahn said.

But, the parade runs deeper than that for Hahn. For several years, his mother Lynn ran the event. Last year she died battling bladder cancer. The event is now officially the Lynn Hahn Memorial 37th Annual Delta Reflections Lighted Boat Parade.

"She loved to entertain. She loved to get people together. And get them on a common groove. She was very, very community conscious," said Hahn.

So, when no one knew if the parade would go on, Roger was tapped to continue his mother's legacy. And, part of it will sail on the Port City's Waterfront Saturday night for all to enjoy.
