STOCKTON, CA - The San Joaquin County District Attorney's office charged two teenagers as adults following a murder earlier this week.

But 16-year-old Lester Hands and 17-year-old Teddy Mahan are charged at this point with robbery, with firearm and gang enhancements, not with murder.

It was while investigating the death of 30-year-old James Gorman, police believed the suspects were related to the robbery of Gorman's teenage son earlier in the day.

Though the teens were arrested on suspicion of murder by Stockton police, the District Attorney's office said the connection between the robbery and the murder continues to be investigated.

Shortly after they were arrested Tuesday, police released information that Sands had been in juvenile hall on an unrelated charge, but was let out with a temporary pass. It was while he was away from juvenile hall Gorman was killed.
