Woman hospitalized after being hit by car in Stockton

The collision was reported in the area of Pacific Avenue and West Yokuts Avenue around 6:30 p.m.

STOCKTON, Calif. — A woman was taken to the hospital after she was hit by a car in Stockton Thursday evening.

Stockton police responded for a reported collision between a car and a pedestrian in the area of Pacific Avenue and West Yokuts Avenue around 6:30 p.m.

Police said the woman was hit near the sidewalk area on the west side of the street near the Delta College marquee sign. But the car that hit her took off, police said. The 23-year-oldwoman was taken to a hospital in critical condition.

Delta police department officers found the suspect vehicle nearby and took the suspect into custody before taking him to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. He was only identified as a 27-year-old man.
