A rally and march is being held in downtown Sacramento by March For Our Lives Sacramento.
The event started at 10 a.m. and people walked from Crocker Park to the State Capitol where speeches and testimonies occurred.
Emily Stone, who was the organizer and permit holder for the march said that the police estimated about 6,000 people were in attendance.
The march is a protest to bring gun violence awareness in the United States following the aftermath of the school shooting at Douglas Stoneman High School in Florida where 17 people died, including students and faculty.
