SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY, Calif. — A suspected stolen vehicle and explosive device were recovered Wednesday during a traffic stop in San Joaquin County.
According to the sheriff’s office, deputies found a vehicle believed to be involved in a carjacking around 12:20 a.m. that was reported stolen Monday.
Deputies stopped the vehicle and took the driver and two passengers into custody.
The sheriff’s office says deputies found a suspected homemade explosive while searching the vehicle and called in the Explosive Ordnance Disposal team who removed the device and confirmed no other ones were in the vehicle.
The driver of the vehicle was arrested and booked on suspicion of possession of a stolen vehicle, receiving stolen property and possession of an explosive device, according to law enforcement. The two passengers were released.
