Suspicious device in Tracy was deconstructed aerial fire work, police say | Update

Police said the area has been cleared.

TRACY, Calif. — Update: 8 p.m.

The Tracy Police Department said the suspicious device was actually a deconstructed and modified aerial firework with a quick fuse. 

Officials said such a process is illegal and can be deadly if detonated.

The San Joaquin County Bomb Squad is en route to a suspicious device found in Tracy.

The Tracy Police Department said Beechnut Avenue and Forest Hills Drive are closed for the investigation.

Authorities are calling on people to stay clear of the area.
