SALIDA, Calif. — A swimmer was found dead along the Stanislaus River in Salida Tuesday evening.
According to the Stanislaus County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to a person in distress around 7:45 p.m.
A helicopter was able to help deputies find the swimmer just before 8:20 p.m.
The swimmer hasn't been identified at this time.
Since January of 2024, there have now been at least 8 drownings in Stanislaus County waterways.
