Isiah Fowler was sentenced to 15 years to life on Wednesday for the murder of his 8-year-old younger sister in their Valley Springs home in April 2013.

Isiah, who is now 14-years-old, will serve his sentence at the Stockton Juvenile Justice Facility. Since Isiah is a juvenile, he will be released when he is 23, with the possibility of an early release when he is 22-years-old.

Leila Fowler, 8, was stabbed nearly two dozen times. Her brother, who was 12 at the time, claimed an intruder attacked Leila. He was later arrested and charged with her murder.

In August a nationally-recognized polygraph examiner said Isiah was telling the truth when he insisted he didn't murder his sister, and his lawyers offered a point-by-point analysis of evidence that supports Isiah's claim that an intruder was responsible.

Fowler's family and defense attorneys strongly believe the teen is innocent and the person who is responsible for Leila's murder is still out there. They are planning to appeal.
