SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Thanksgiving morning was cold. In fact, it was the coldest morning of the year for parts of the valley!
Downtown Sacramento bottomed out at 37°, which was cold but not the coldest all year. The coldest Downtown has been in 2024 was Jan. 7 when a morning low of 34° was recorded.
However, for Sacramento Executive Airport — a bit away from the urban core — Thanksgiving morning reached a low of 32°, making it the coldest morning of the year.
The previous coldest morning at Sacramento Executive was 33° on Jan. 7 and most recently Nov. 19.
Similarly, Stockton had its coldest morning of 2024. The middle of November had a few days with cold morning temps in the low 30s, but Thanksgiving morning dropped to 30°, which topples Jan. 8 as the previous coldest morning of the year in Stockton.
Modesto also had a cold morning starting off at 35°, but that wasn't enough to be the coldest morning. Modesto's coldest morning this year was 31° on Jan. 12.
More cold mornings near freezing are expected across Northern California Friday and Saturday before slightly warmer morning temps beginning Sunday and continuing into the first several days of December.
