TRACY, Calif. — Two burglary suspects were arrested Monday in Tracy after allegedly ramming a marked patrol vehicle.
According to the Tracy Police Department, it happened around 4 p.m. at the Motel 6 on North Tracy Boulevard.
Police say an officer saw a green Dodge Charger believed to be connected to auto theft/burglary throughout the day.
The officer watching the vehicle saw two people – 34-year-old Enrique Antunez and 32-year-old Karris Garcia, both of Fremont – getting into the vehicle and trying to leave.
Police say the officer tried to detain the two at which time Antunez put the vehicle into reverse and rammed a marked patrol vehicle. Assisting officers disabled the vehicle and the two were detained.
Officers searched the vehicle and motel room and found a loaded gun with the serial number filed off, stolen mail, keys for community mailboxes, vehicle theft devices and more. Detectives called postal inspectors to assist because of the volume of stolen mail and mailbox keys.
Antunez was booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer, identity theft, felon in possession of a firearm and other various identity theft and weapons charges.
Garcia was booked on suspicion of identity theft, felon in possession of a firearm, possession of stolen property and other various identity theft and weapons charges.
Anyone with information on the investigation can call the Tracy Police Department at 209-831-6550.
