TRACY, Calif. — A man was arrested Monday afternoon in Tracy after holding two people hostage at gunpoint.
According to the Tracy Police Department, it happened just before 3 p.m. Monday on the 3500 block of North Tracy Boulevard. Police say several 911 calls came in reporting a man with a pistol threatening people in front of a motel.
Police say 67-year-old Charles Miller was making threats while pointing a gun at a man and forcing two other people into the motel lobby at gunpoint.
Officers deployed a BearCat and the hostages ran out as it arrived at the scene. Miller surrendered and was taken into custody.
Police say their investigation found Miller tried to shoot two different people in the head but was unsuccessful. A search of the lobby found two guns believed to have been used by Miller.
He was booked on suspicion of attempted murder, kidnapping, criminal threats, assault with a firearm and felon in possession of a firearm, among other charges.
