TRACY, Calif. — Heather, a girl who had a heart attack at a Tracy school, was given a warm welcome upon her return to the classroom.
The South San Joaquin County Fire Authority said Heather suffered a heart attack on Sept. 22. First responders arrived around 11:40 a.m., resuscitated her, and got her to UCSF.
Three weeks later, she was able to come back to school, and she was greeted by some of the first responders who helped save her life.
"Heather, we are so proud of you and thankful to hear that you are doing so well! Your bravery is unmatched and we were so happy to celebrate you today," said South San Joaquin County Fire Authority on Facebook.
The fire agency thanked the community for rallying around Heather and her family and also thanked police, the school principal, and Ms. Evans for their quick actions.
According to the American Heart Association, signs of a heart attack can include chest discomfort, discomfort in areas of the upper body, shortness of breath, as well as lightheadedness, or nausea.
