Woman dies after crash in Tuolumne County

The California Highway Patrol said the crash happened Wednesday along Highway 120, west of Smith Station Road.

TUOLUMNE, Calif. — A woman died after a crash in Tuolumne County on Wednesday.

The California Highway Patrol said the crash was along Highway 120, west of Smith Station Road around 1 p.m.

A 73-year-old man from Humble, Texas was driving westbound on Highway 120 with a 73-year-old woman also from Humble Texas as a passenger. At the same time, a 25-year-old man from Truckee was driving eastbound on Highway 120. 

The Texas man went over the double yellow line and the two vehicles crashed into each other head-on.

The woman from Texas died at the scene. Her name hasn't been released. Both drivers were taken to hospitals.

The crash is under investigation, but CHP said alcohol or drugs aren't suspected factors of the crash.
