Person found dead after Turlock apartment fire

Fire officials were called after a care taker checked in on the elderly occupant of the apartment.

TURLOCK, Calif. — One person died after a Turlock apartment fire Tuesday morning.

The Turlock Fire Department said they were called to the 1500 block of East Avenue around 8:33 a.m. about a possible structure fire. Upon getting to the scene, fire crews found an extinguished fire inside the apartment. 

They were called again after a care taker checked in on the elderly occupant of the apartment. The person was found dead. 

The fire didn't spread any further than the one unit and no one else was injured. It's currently unclear how the person died. 

The fire is under investigation and no other information is available at this time.
