Deadly crash in Stanislaus County near Turlock

The driver of the Honda wasn't wearing a seatbelt and died at the scene.

STANISLAUS COUNTY, Calif. — A person died in a crash in Stanislaus County, south of Turlock on Friday.

The California Highway Patrol said the crash happened around 10:45 a.m. on E Harding Road at Golf Road. 

Based on California Highway Patrol's initial investigation, the driver of a 2001 Honda was heading eastbound on E Harding Road and stopped at the stop sign at Golf Road. The driver of a 2013 Chevrolet was heading southbound on Golf Road, approaching E Harding Road.

The driver of the Honda accelerated into the intersection in front of the Chevrolet and the two vehicles collided. The driver of the Honda wasn't wearing a seatbelt and died at the scene. The identity of the person who died hasn't been released.

The driver of the Chevrolet wasn't injured, according to California Highway Patrol.

The California Highway Patrol said it's unknown if drugs or alcohol contributed to the crash.
