TURLOCK, Calif. — A group home employee was arrested Thursday on charges of having unlawful sex with a minor, according to the Turlock Police Department.
Officers arrested 30-year-old Marissa Anne Groves for allegations first brought up by a tip to the department in March, said Turlock Chief of Police Ninus C. Amirfar.
The alleged sexual relationship is believed to have begun while Groves was working as a group counselor at the placement facility where the minor was living, police said. The relationship is believed to have continued after Groves left and began work at another group home.
Groves was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on Thursday, June 20. At this time, police said they have no reason to believe that she had any other relationships with other minors at the facilities where she worked.
The investigation was run by the Turlock Police Department and the California Department of Social Services Community Care Licensing Division. Through interviews and evidence collection, detectives were given probable cause to believe the sexual acts had indeed happened.
