Vacaville Fire technician killed in off-duty accident

The death came a day after a Vacaville Police officer was killed in a crash in the line of duty.

VACAVILLE, Calif. — Just a day after a Vacaville Police Department officer was killed in a crash in the line of duty, officials say a Vacaville Fire Department Code Enforcement Technician was killed in another crash while off duty. 

Fire officials say Bryden Nadasdy was involved in a crash late Friday on Vaca Valley Parkway, east of Browns Valley Road in Vacaville. The CHP is investigating the deadly crash.

Nadasdy is survived by his mother and brother, the Vacaville Fire Department said. He had served with the Vacaville Fire Department since March 21, 2022.

"He served with the highest level of dedication and commitment, and his loss is deeply felt by the fire department, the City, and the community," the department said in a Facebook post announcing the death Saturday, "We extend our deepest sympathies to Bryden’s loved ones and join them in honoring his memory and contributions to the community. The City of Vacaville is providing support and counseling services to all employees affected by this loss."
