Smoke from Point Fire drifting toward delta, San Joaquin County

Smoke from the Point Fire in Sonoma County is pushing into areas like Vacaville and Suisun City.

VACAVILLE, Calif. — Areas like Suisun City and Vacaville might be smelling smoke for a while due to the Point Fire in Sonoma County.

According to the National Weather Service, northwesterly winds are pushing wildfire smoke into the delta and northern San Joaquin Valley.

Vacaville Fire Department, Suisun City Fire Department and Fairfield Fire Department all posted to Facebook, saying there were no fires burning in their cities. Instead, they all said residents were experiencing drift smoke from the Point Fire.

The Point Fire is about 900 acres in size and remains around 15% contained. There are confirmed reports of structures destroyed, but crews are still working through damage inspections. The fire sparked in the area of Stewarts Point Skaggs Springs Road in Healdsburg on Sunday.
