VACAVILLE, Calif. — Fiesta Days is officially set for May 25 in Vacaville, but it might look a bit different than some people remember.
On Facebook, festival officials announced that they were redoing the event to make a safer environment for the community. To that end, Fiesta Days will only be taking on one day.
The other big change is the carnival. It won't be returning this year.
Both changes come after back-to-back years of incidents that impacted the event.
In 2022, an alleged fight between two 18-year-olds escalated into gunfire. The suspected shooter, a teenager from Suisun City, was quickly arrested. Another teen, from Fairfield, was hurt and taken to the hospital. He was expected to be OK.
In 2023, police said fights happened throughout the day, which also included a person being arrested for having a gun. The carnival was closed an hour early out of an abundance of caution.
