VACAVILLE, Calif. — Want to join a costume contest with your dog or go safe trick-or-treating? Here's a roundup of events happening on or before Halloween in Vacaville this year. 

Howl-o-ween

Want to show off your fur-baby and their costume? Want to enter into a costume contest with your pooch? The annual Howl-o-ween event is just for you. The costume contest will have three categories: Most Creative (dog-only), Funniest Fur Ball (dog-only) and Best Pack (human/dog combo). Each contestant will have one minute to show off their skills and costume. Winners will be announced at the end of the event. 

  • Where: Andrews Park at 614 E Monte Vista Ave
  • When: Oct. 28 from 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.
  • Cost: Free to watch, $5 to register for the costume contest

Participating dogs must be friendly, licensed, vaccinated and leashed for the costume contest and event. You do not have to have a pet to come to the event. For more information, click HERE

Halloween Party at Vacaville Commons

The event will include pumpkin carving, crafts, street entertainment and unicyclists, music, giveaways, games and more. Hosted by Visit Vacaville, the party is said to be a "frightfully fun event" for people of all ages, with or without a costume. 

  • Where: Vacaville Commons Shopping Center at 2098 Harbison Drive
  • When: Oct. 28 from 1 p.m. - 3 p.m.
  • Cost: Free

Downtown Vacaville Halloween Stroll

Want to take the family safe trick-or-treating? Dozens of businesses in downtown Vacaville will offer treats and fun as the community gets together for some spooky family friendly games, live music, candy and more. The first 1,000 families to arrive at the event will get a free trick-or-treating bag. 

  • Where: Town Square, downtown Vacaville
  • When: Oct. 31 from 4 p.m. - 6 p.m.
  • Cost: Free
