Crews battle 5-acre vegetation fire in El Dorado County

No evacuation warnings or orders have been issued.

EL DORADO HILLS, Calif. — Firefighters in El Dorado County are containing a 5-acre vegetation fire near El Dorado Hills, Cal Fire's Amador-El Dorado Unit said in a Facebook post Saturday.

The blaze, dubbed the Vista Fire, started on Arroyo Vista Way. Officials say the spread of the fire has been stopped at 5 acres.

No evacuations warning or orders have been issued. Crews with the Cameron Park Fire Department, the El Dorado Hills Fire Department and the Rescue Fire Department are helping battle the fire.

If you live in a wildfire-prone zone, Cal Fire suggests creating a defensible space around your home. Defensible space is an area around a building in which vegetation and other debris are completely cleared. At least 100 feet is recommended.

The Department of Homeland Security suggests assembling an emergency kit that has important documents, N95 respirator masks, and supplies to grab with you if you’re forced to leave at a moment’s notice. The agency also suggests signing up for local warning system notifications and knowing your community’s evacuation plans best to prepare yourself and your family in cases of wildfires.
