GRANITE BAY, Calif. — Walmart announced Tuesday it will close its Granite Bay store in April.
The store, a neighborhood market located on Douglas Boulevard, will close to the public on April 12, according to a company news release. Walmart said the store is not performing as well as the company hoped it would; it opened in September 2012.
All store employees are eligible for transfer and will be paid through June 14, Walmart said. If employees do not transfer, those eligible will receive severance after that date.
“We are grateful to the customers who have given us the privilege of serving them at our store in Granite Bay, California,” said Walmart spokeswoman Alicia Anger. “We look forward to continuing to serve them at any of seven other locations across the area, on Walmart.com and through delivery to their home or business.”
The store’s pharmacy staff will work with customers to transfer prescriptions to other Walmart locations, the company said.

The company said there are no additional closings planned in the region.
