SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Weezer is about to embark on a North American tour to celebrate a defining moment in the band's history, a junket that will bring the Southern California alt-rock/power pop heroes to Golden 1 Center on Oct. 8.
The "Voyage to the Blue Planet" tour will launch in early September on the 30th anniversary of Weezer's self-titled debut, an album known by diehards as "The Blue Album." The band will play the album in its entirety including hits like "Buddy Holly," "Say It Ain't So" and "Undone-The Sweater Song."
The Flaming Lips and Dinosaur Jr. will handle opening duties.
General admission tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. this Friday, March 15, via the Weezer website. There are also presale opportunities which start on Wednesday, March 13.
Other California dates in San Francisco's Chase Center on Oct. 9 and Inglewood's Intuit Dome on Oct. 11.
Weezer was formed in Los Angeles in 1992 and in the years since has sold more than 35 million records worldwide. Led by lead singer and guitarist Rivers Cuomo, Weezer has won Grammys and countless MTV Video Music Awards, among other honors.
