Hwy 50 closure planned after crash into Sycamore Trail overcrossing in West Sacramento

Officials said there will be a full westbound Hwy 50 closure and traffic diversions to the westbound 50 to NB 5 connector in the area.

WEST SACRAMENTO, California — Parts of westbound Highway 50 will be temporarily closed during the overnight hours after an early morning crash in West Sacramento.

The highway is being closed for repairs and inspection after a crash into the Sycamore Trail overcrossing.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash happened along Highway 50, just west of Jefferson Boulevard. A Nissan went through the center divide and crashed into support beams for the Sycamore Trail pedestrian overcrossing. The drive had minor injuries, but the passenger died at the scene. 

Repairs start Monday night. The earliest roadway impacts start at 9 p.m., with some continue until 5 a.m.

  • WB 50 onramp closes from Jefferson Blvd/Rte 275 from 9 p.m. - 5:00 a.m.
  • WB 50 onramp closes from 5th & W St at 10:00 p.m. - 5:00 a.m.
  • SB 5 connector to WB 50 closes at 10:00 p.m. - 5:00 a.m.
  • NB 5 connector to WB 50 at 10:30 p.m. - 5:00 a.m.
  • Full WB 50 closure and traffic diversions to the WB 50 to NB 5 connector at 11:00 p.m. - 04:00 a.m.
