Memorial service announced for West Sacramento firefighter

Fire officials said it'll serve as an opportunity for friends, family, colleagues and the public to pay their respects and show support for Hall's family.

WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Memorial services for a West Sacramento firefighter who died during a training exercise were announced for Oct. 8.

The West Sacramento Fire Department said community members were invited to the memorial honoring the life and service of Fire Engineer Tim Hall, 59. He died on Sept. 23.

Fire officials said it'll serve as an opportunity for friends, family, colleagues and the public to pay their respects and show support for Hall's family.

They also provided a link to a GoFundMe page to support Hall's family. It was organized by the Sacramento Area Firefighters Widows and Orphans Fund.

"Tim was unequivocally, without hyperbole, the best truck driver for USAR Task Force 7 on which he served for over 10 years. Tim embodied quiet strength, grit, and immense mental fortitude. He was a gentle soul with a servant heart who did everything in his power to serve his community and provide for his family," the organizers said.

The memorial service will take place Oct. 8 at 11 a.m. at Creekside Christian Church in Elk Grove.
