Sacramento River Cats 2025 schedule announced

The home games had to be scheduled in accommodation with the Athletics' schedule since the teams will be sharing a ballpark.

WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The 2025 Minor League Baseball schedule for the River Cats was announced Monday.

The River Cats will kick off the season on Friday, March 28 in a matchup at West Sacramento's Sutter Health Park against the Albuquerque Isotopes.

For the 2025 season, the River Cats will have 14 home series. These home games had to be scheduled in accommodation with the Athletics' schedule. The two teams will be sharing Sutter Health Park ahead of the Athletics' move to Las Vegas. The temporary move was announced in April after representatives from the A's made multiple visits to the ballpark.

West Sacramento's Sutter Health Park is the home of the River Cats, the Giants' Triple-A affiliate owned by Sacramento Kings owner Vivek Ranadivé.

The Sacramento River Cats were the Triple-A affiliate of the Oakland Athletics from 2000 to 2014 and became an affiliate of the San Francisco Giants in 2015, according to the River Cats website.

“While we continue to welcome fans to Sutter Health Park for the 18 games that remain in our 25th anniversary season, we are also eager to begin preparations for what is shaping up to be a very special season of baseball here in West Sacramento,” said River Cats President and COO Chip Maxson in a statement.

River Cats schedule for the 2025 season

There are 150 games scheduled for next season.

Notable games next season include the River Cats hosting the Salt Lake Bees on Easter: April 20, 2025. They'll take the field to host the Tacoma Rainiers on Father's Day: June 15, 2025, and the team will host the Reno Aces on July 3, 2025.

The A's will host three teams over holiday weekends this season. The A's will face the Yankees at Sutter Health Park in early May on Mother's Day. Linden native Aaron Judge is sure to draw crowds. The A's will host the Phillies over Memorial Day Weekend. They'll also take on the Giants at Sutter Health Park over the Fourth of July weekend. Find the A's schedule HERE.

Why are the A's temporarily moving to Sacramento?

The Athletics will make Sutter Health Park their temporary home for a few years before moving to Las Vegas.

Representatives with the A's announced the team will be playing in West Sacramento for the next three MLB seasons starting in 2025 as the lease at the Oakland Coliseum expires after the 2024 season. There's also an option for a fourth season.

The A's plan to move to a stadium to be built on the Las Vegas Strip with $380 million in public financing approved by the Nevada government. However, the team needs a temporary home as the new ballpark isn't expected to open until 2027 at the earliest.
