'Everything else was gone' | West Sacramento businesses burglarized

"I honestly don't know how people just think it's easy to break in, take something that's not theirs."

WEST SACRAMENTO, California — Multiple family-owned businesses in West Sacramento are calling for help in finding the burglars who stole hundreds, and in some cases thousands of dollars, from them.

It was all caught on camera on Black Friday when most people were sleeping. Surveillance video shows two men walking up to El Mango Loco in West Sacramento early Friday morning. At one point, they can even be heard speaking.

Shortly before 4 a.m., they can be seen breaking into the business.

"We do have an alarm system that lets us know when they broke the glass, so I guess that's when the alarm on all of our phones turned on. We drove all the way here, maybe like less than seven minutes, but they were already gone. Police was here, but everything else was gone," said Nadia Campos, daughter of El Mango Loco owners.

In just minutes, they were able to steal a safe. Inside that safe was a week's worth of earnings from the business owned by the family. It also included rent money they were planning to pay this December, which is about $4,000 altogether.

"I think it'll set up back with the rent money. Just mainly that, we have to work just a little bit harder to make all that up. We do have bills to pay at home, so that's another thing that we have to deal with too," said Campos.

El Mango Loco is just one of at least three other businesses that were hit that same morning.

The same men are believed to have burglarized Hing's Chinese Cuisine across the parking lot, taking about $200 to $300. Raku Sushi is in an adjacent shopping center. They're closed on Tuesdays, but a boarded-up door shows the evidence left behind.

Campos said they never thought something like this would happen to them, and after seeing the surveillance video, they have no idea who the men are.

They're left making ends meet as they head into the holiday season.

"I honestly don't know how people just think it's easy to break in, take something that's not theirs, and they have no idea how hard people work for the money that they have," said Campos.

The family is hoping to recover some of the money by offering specials this week. The business said people can always support them by taking advantage of some of their specials.

If you have any information about the case, call West Sacramento Police at their Crime Tip Hotline at (916) 617-4747.
