WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. — A woman died after a shooting in West Sacramento Wednesday.
The West Sacramento Police Department said officers responded around 10 p.m. to a call from a minor that a woman was shot by her boyfriend. Officers arrived in the 300 block of Bridge Place and found the minor outside the home.
A man walked out of the garage and was detained by officers. He had a gunshot wound on his left foot. It's unclear how he was injured.
Police found the woman in the garage. She had a gunshot wound on her upper back and was taken to a hospital where she died.
West Sacramento police officers found a firearm hidden in a bush. The man was arrested and taken to Yolo County Jail. He was identified as Demond Jones.
Police said the minor who called police was the woman's daughter.
The shooting is under investigation.
