LINCOLN, Calif. — A staff member in the Western Placer Unified School District (WPUSD) was put on leave due to a "concerning social media interaction."
In a news release, the district said they were made aware of the interaction and responded by putting the employee on paid administrative leave.
An investigation is underway with the Lincoln Police Department.
"We do not condone inappropriate behavior from any adult in our community, and when serious concerns arise, we act swiftly,” said the WPUSD Superintendent Kerry Callahan. "Our standard protocol is to place the individual on leave, remove them from the school environment, and conduct a thorough investigation in collaboration with law enforcement. Given that this is an active investigation, we must respect the privacy rights of everyone involved and therefore are limited in what we can disclose at this time."
Officials said the employee was told to have no contact with students during the process and that all background checks were cleared before the person was hired.
No additional information was released.
