LAKE COUNTY, Calif. — A Wheatland man is accused of weed-eating in dry grass, leading to the start of the Adams Fire in Lake County.
According to CAL FIRE, the man – only identified as being from Wheatland – was arrested on three misdemeanor charges.
The Adams Fire started Wednesday afternoon off Main Street in Lower Lake and grew to 16 acres before being contained. CAL FIRE says it threatened multiple structures and led to evacuation orders.
Ultimately no structures were damaged or destroyed by the fire.
CAL FIRE says it’s instituting maximum enforcement on human-caused wildfires due to extreme heat and elevated fire conditions. People are asked to avoid any activities or equipment that may start a wildfire.
