The White House, more specifically White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders, said Wednesday the federal government will not investigate the Stephon Clark shooting.
Sanders, speaking to reporters, added that President Trump believes this situation is solely a local issue at this point.
"We want to make sure all law enforcement is carrying out the letter of the law," Sanders said. "The president is very supportive of law enforcement. But at the same time, in these specific cases and specific instances, those will be left up to local authorities to make that determination and is not something for the federal government to weigh in on.”
The comments from the White House come one day after a protester was arrested during a special City Council meeting in Sacramento.
