Barbeque burns down Calaveras County home

The Calaveras Consolidated Fire Department said the fire started at a home on Kirby Street in the Rancho Calaveras Subdivision in Valley Springs.

CALAVERAS COUNTY, Calif. — A Calaveras County home burned down from a barbeque Wednesday, according to fire officials.

The Calaveras Consolidated Fire Department said the fire started at a home on Kirby Street in the Rancho Calaveras Subdivision in Valley Springs. They said they fought the fire in triple-digit heat.

The one person who was home at the time was able to get out without injuries, but the home suffered “major damage,” according to officials. Some grass nearby the home also caught fire, but officials were able to manage it. 

Red Cross will help the person find shelter. 

Fire crews said the fire was started by a barbeque on the deck. No other information is available at this time.
